The notebook, explained

Your runners are no longer typed in again for every race. Their name, weight, settings and code live in a notebook — and follow them from one race to the next.

🏃 A tab of their own

In Le Cairn

The notebook is the 🏃 Athletes tab, first in the bar of Le Cairn. Each runner has a line there, and a 6-digit PIN: it is what identifies them everywhere — in their races, and in their Cupboard.

To enter them in a race, “+ Add to the race” pours a copy into the race. Running alone? Put yourself in your own notebook, like any other runner.

✏️ What you correct stays corrected

In Le Cairn

You correct somebody inside a race? Le Cairn asks you: “Update the notebook?” Yes, and the correction goes back up to the notebook: the next race will find it. “This race only”, and it stays where it is.

🔑 The codes

Who gets in where

A runner's PIN opens their races and their Cupboard. The crew code belongs to each race: it opens the app in the Crew role, for that race. And the public only needs the race code.

Change a PIN? The old one stops working that very instant, even on a phone that stayed signed in.

📝 The private note

For you alone

A free note about a runner — “dodgy right knee”, “cannot take caffeinated gels”. Only you can read it: neither the runner, nor a teammate, nor a professional you open a race to can see it.

It touches the body and health: that is why it does not live in the race, but apart, in your account.

5

👥 The shared cupboard

In Le Cairn

In the notebook, the 👥 Food drawer column: their own, or shared with someone in the notebook. For a couple, that is one stock of gels instead of 2 to keep track of. The rest — stars, food reactions, kit, PIN — stays each person's own. The detail is in the Cupboard guide.

📥 Their way of racing, from one race to the next

In Le Cairn

The protocol is a runner's way of racing: their ranges, the interval between intakes, the refill size, water and drink flow rates, the Pebble-Dropper sliders, their kit. At the top of 🎯 Strategy, 📥 Reuse lays it on a new race, from one of your races or from a file; 📤 Export takes it away.

The file has the .miettes extension — the crumbs you drop to find your way back. It can be given away: it carries no PIN, no phone number, no race number, no track, no cut-offs.

2 runners with the same name? A runner typed directly into a race is linked to the notebook by name, when only one runner in the notebook has it. 2 namesakes cannot be guessed: use “+ Add to the race” instead.
Why a PIN rather than an account? Because a runner has nothing to create: no account, no password, no address. They get 6 digits from you, and that is all.
